Find Your Perfect Fischer Hockey Stick
Selecting the right stick flex, length, and blade curve is critical to maximizing shot velocity, accuracy, and puck control on the ice.
1. Flex Guide (General Rule: Half Your Body Weight)
Flex ratings indicate how many pounds of pressure are required to bend the shaft by one inch. Using a flex that is too stiff prevents proper shaft loading; using one that is too soft loses energy and accuracy.
| Category | Flex Rating | Player Weight (lbs) | Standard Length |
|---|---|---|---|
| Senior | 75 / 85 / 95 Flex | 150 - 200+ lbs | 60" |
| Intermediate | 55 Flex / 65 Flex | 110 - 150 lbs | 58" |
| Junior | 40 Flex / 45 Flex | 70 - 110 lbs | 52" / 55" |
| Youth | 25 Flex / 35 Flex | Under 70 lbs | 38" / 45" |
2. Stick Length & Sizing
Proper stick length ensures your blade lies flat on the ice in your natural skating stance:
- On Skates: The butt end should reach between your chin and lower lip.
- Without Skates (In Shoes): The butt end should reach your nose.
- Playstyle Variations: Defensemen often prefer a slightly longer stick (nose on skates) for poke checks and slapshot leverage. Puckhandlers and snipers often prefer a slightly shorter stick (collarbone to chin on skates) for close-quarters stickhandling.
